On the death of Chan Chee, the pressman in the Stamp Office, His Excellency appointed Chan Yip to the vacancy. The late pressman drew $7. a month as salary and $2.50 from the Incidental Vote as compensation for free quarters: but on the recommendation of the Acting Treasurer, His Excellency decided to pay the new pressman $8. a month, which should include all claim for quarters, the additional $2. a month being paid this year from the monthly saving of $5. on account of the new shroff in the Stamp Office, and the necessary alteration being made in the 1902 Estimate.
